Rubberbands

Life makes you feel like you have a rubber band around your waist that is being pulled by two opposing forces. At times that rubber band is hanging limply around your waist and at other times it is pulled to its max. If it is hanging limply and someone snaps you with it, not much pain….but the real pain comes when it has been pulled to its max and someone or something comes along and SNAP it pops you right in the stomach. Knocks the breath right out of you. Its not a matter of IF that snap will come, it a matter of WHEN.

We knew it would come, we had been warned it would come, but still it hurts. It hurts when you are half way around the world living with strangers, not understanding a word people are saying around you, not in control of any aspect of your life (see that rubber band being pulled) when….SNAP you get a phone call from home letting you know that one of your family’s best friends was in the hospital with a horrible disorder. AND there is nothing you can do. You can’t hop in the car and go sit all night with them in the hospital….You can’t take on responsibilities of the family so they can focus on what is important…SNAP.

So, what do you do? Don’t let the enemy win. Lift it all up to the Father. I have no control of my life at this moment. I have no control of our friend’s life. But I know who does and because of that I cry out to Him, “Father, Help!”
